FAQs
A Celebrant is professional who creates and conducts personalised ceremonies for various occasions such as weddings, vow renewals and baby namings, to name but a few! Some celebrants also conduct funeral services. A celebrant offers a bespoke, customised and unique approach that reflects your personalities and beliefs. Unlike traditional officiants (such as registrars or religious ministers) who may follow a set script or have to stick to religious or legal protocols, a celebrant tailors the ceremony to your preferences, ensuring it is unique, meaningful and 100% personalised to you!
As flexible as we are are, this is the one thing we can’t do! (YET!) UK law prohibits celebrants from conducting legally binding marriages, but fear not! That doesn’t mean you can’t still have the ceremony of your dreams, but you will need to take care of the ‘legal bit’ at the registry office. This can be a short 5 minute service where you say the legally contracting words in front of 2 witnesses and the registrars and sign the legal documents before your bespoke personalised celebrant-led wedding ceremony! Contact your local registry office for further information.
Of course! There are no restrictions on where or what time of day you can have your celebrant-led ceremony. I would always ensure we have a plan B though, just in case it rains -or snows….! (although I’ll happily get wet if having your ceremony in the rain is what you’ve dreamed of! Sparkly wellies are right up my street!).
Again, 100% yes! I can even help you write personalised vows or help you choose readings if you would like!
Absolutely yes! A celebrant can incorporate any elements you wish into your ceremony! There are no restrictions, unlike with registrar or religious officiants.
Have you ever met someone that you just ‘click’ with? Someone you feel just ‘gets’ you? Someone who you are totally on the ‘same page’ with? Well, it’s the same as choosing a celebrant! You need to choose someone whose style and approach resonates with you. It’s really important to have an initial consultation with a celebrant to ensure that you are comfortable and confident in their ability to deliver your ‘vision’. Whilst there is no legal requirement for a celebrant to have a formal qualification in celebrancy, many (including me!) do, and this often gives people peace of mind. The training is rigorous (but lots of fun!) so you know that by choosing a qualified celebrant they are a master at what they do! Any celebrant should be more than happy to show you evidence of their qualification; just ask! (we like to show them off!)
As soon as you find the right celebrant! Celebrants often get booked up 12-18 months in advance, especially in peak seasons, so, my advice is, if you find the right celebrant for you, book them before someone else does!
